Ductile iron castings are used in virtually all major industries where high strength, ductility, toughness, wear resistance, resistance to severe thermal and mechanical shock, resistance to high and low temperatures, corrosion resistance and dimensional stability are required. To meet these variations in conditions of use, ductile iron is available in several grades with a wide range of mechanical and physical properties.
Heat treatment
① Annealing To obtain ferritic matrix, increase ductility, toughness, stress relief, improve cutting properties
②Normalization. Obtaining pearlitic matrix, increasing strength and wear resistance
③ Tempering To obtain matrix organization of hardened sostenite as well as good overall mechanical properties, such as spindles, crankshafts, connecting rods, etc.
④ Isothermal quenching Complex shape and complex performance requirements of parts to obtain matrix organization of lower bainite, as well as high strength, high hardness, high toughness and other comprehensive mechanical properties to avoid cracking during heat treatment, such as spindles, crankshafts, gears and so on
